Having a fab time in Edinburgh on a mini break trying out the Malmaison in Leith, Edinburgh….I will of course review Mal later but just feel I have to review “A Room in Leith” first as we have been there in the last two days…

Yesterday we saw it and thought we would pop in for a drink…they had 0% alcohol Erdinger which I had heard of and BTK sampled the Local draft beer Paolozzi from the Edinburgh Beer Factory but noticed that you could try 3 gins and one tonic for £12!…he wanted to try it…however, we were going back to the hotel for dinner…we then looked at the menu and wanted to eat there! We decided to have a little starter so ordered the New Haven Smoked Salmon and Smoked Mackerel pate plate with sough dough toast, capers and lemon….It was enormous!!! This is a dinner plate!…It’s BIG!!

So we went back today….There is fish everywhere here but we both fancied Fish Pied and BTK fancied the 3 Gins!! Aka The Gin Flight!!….The Gins came in three matching glasses and were an Edinburgh Gin, Electric Gin and Leith Gin with a small bottle of tonic!!…that went down well!!…but the Fish Pie was jam packed with Monkfish, Salmon and Coley….with a cheesy mash on top and asparagus. We cannot recommend it enough!

Both days we had fantastic service and must give a mention to Lee who was friendly and efficient but we must also give a special mention to Nicole who was fantastic, friendly and bubbly and gave us first class service…. If you are in Edinburgh and in Leith…it is a must…
